Truvant Europe Sustainability Report 2023: A Year of Sustainable Progress

A Commitment to People, Planet, and Packaging

At Truvant, we are dedicated to creating sustainable packaging solutions that benefit our  customers, employees, and the environment. Our 2023 ESG report highlights our progress in these areas and our unwavering commitment to making a positive impact.

Environmental Sustainability

In 2023, we focused on transitioning away from plastic packaging and towards more sustainable alternatives. One of our successful projects resulted in eliminating 125 tons of plastic.

Here are some of our key environmental achievements:

  • Reduced energy consumption: We decreased electricity consumption by 13%, demonstrating our commitment to energy efficiency.
  • Minimized waste: Our production waste reduced by 7%, reflecting our efforts to optimize our processes and minimize waste generation.
  • Increased recycling: The recycling rate improved by 17%, demonstrating our commitment to responsible waste management.

In 2024 we aim to:

  • Further reduce electricity consumption by 5%
  • Reduce the amount of waste produced by 4%
  • Increase the amount of recycled waste by 4%

100% of our production waste is now segregated by stream, and we have doubled the waste sent to recycling at our Łódź branch. We are also monitoring our carbon footprint across all three emission scopes and developing an emission reduction plan.

Energy Efficiency and Renewable Sources

We prioritize energy efficiency, and we are proud to report that 100% of our electricity comes from renewable sources. This commitment to clean energy helps reduce our environmental impact.

Social Responsibility

Our commitment to social responsibility extends to our employees and the communities we serve.

  • Diversity and Inclusion: We strive to create a diverse and inclusive workplace. Our workforce consists of 1,617 women (including 17 in the management team) and 936 men (including 20 in the management team); 7.6% of our employees are persons with disabilities, and 15% are foreigners.
  • Community Engagement: We collaborate with the environmental foundation that protects and restores local ecosystems and social organizations that support people with disabilities.

Governance and Ethics

We adhere to the highest ethical standards and prioritize responsible governance. Our commitment to sustainability has been recognized by EcoVadis, with a 2023 bronze medal for our sustainable business practices.

Future Goals

We’re committed to continuous improvement and have set the following goals for the future:

  • Waste Management: We will continue to optimize waste management practices and reduce our environmental footprint.
  • Raw Material Utilization: We aim to optimize the utilization of raw materials to minimize waste and reduce our resource consumption.
  • Supplier Requirements: We will impose environmental protection requirements on our suppliers to ensure they align with our sustainability goals.
  • Water Resources: We will take steps to reduce our impact on water resources and promote water conservation.
  • Employee Education: We will continue to provide ecological education to our employees to raise awareness and foster a sustainable culture.
  • GHG emissions: We will monitor our carbon footprint, improve accuracy of data, and develop emissions reduction plan.
  • Energy Consumption: We will monitor energy consumption levels and implement strategies to improve energy efficiency.

Environmental Initiatives

We are taking a proactive approach to environmental sustainability by:

  • Suggesting environmentally friendly solutions
  • Prioritizing the environmental impact in our decision-making
  • Optimizing operational processes and logistic efficiencies
  • Increasing the share of environmentally friendly raw materials in our packaging

Developing Innovative Solutions

We are developing and implementing sustainable packaging solutions throughout our supply chain. Automation initiatives are also helping us increase efficiency and reduce material production waste.

Responsible Consumption and Usage

At Truvant, we promote responsible consumption and usage practices throughout our operations. We want our packaging to contain as little plastic as possible, to weigh as little as possible, and to have minimal impact on the environment. Therefore, we optimize packaging dimensions, transition from PET materials to rPET or cardboard, eliminate unnecessary packaging, and reduce the use of stretch film.

Monitoring and Reporting

We are continuously improving our processes for analyzing greenhouse gas emissions across Scope 1, 2, and 3.

Care for Local Ecosystems and Educational Programs

We want all employees to learn about environmental impact and implement sustainable behaviours in everyday life. While we continue to prioritize workplace training and education, we encourage all employees to protect the environment through actions big and small – together our effort will make a lasting impact.

Conclusion

Our 2023 ESG report demonstrates our dedication to sustainability and our progress in reducing our environmental impact, promoting social responsibility, and adhering to ethical business practices. We are committed to continuing our efforts and making a positive contribution to a sustainable future.
